Meet the all-new REDMAGIC 10 Air! Learn more>
Since its release, the REDMAGIC 10 Air has made a considerable impression across the globe as our latest flagship phone, which is affordable, slender, and high performing. Naturally, at REDMAGIC, we devote ourselves to creating gaming devices that go the extra mile while still keeping in tune with our users' needs. The REDMAGIC 10 Air was born from this dedication.
However, to create a unique and “lighter” version of our elite gaming smartphones, we have had to make some adjustments to keep the phone simple while still ensuring the best performance at the end of the day. One of the main ways in which we achieved this feat with the 10 Air was through the use of combined power from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with RedCore R3 and Energy Cube Technology enhancements. In this blog, we take a closer look at how we’ve changed the game with this diabolical tag-team action.
The launch of the REDMAGIC 10 Air made waves across the industry with publications such as TechRadar calling it “one of the most accessible and inviting gaming phones on the market in 2025”. The lightweight, 7.85 mm-thick smartphone gained popularity for its impeccable 6.8-inch, practically bezel-less display and ultra-thin matte body design. The 10 Air’s 6,000 mAh battery and 80W fast charging also made it a strong contender for an enduring, yet affordable choice on the market. However, one of the hallmark points of the 10 Air remained its unparalleled performance.
The REDMAGIC 10 Air comes equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and makes use of RedCore R3 and Energy Cube Technology enhancements. This allows the phone to deliver seamless and powerful gaming along with desktop-level graphics while still preventing overheating and actively extending the battery life. This lethal combination also elevates gaming with 120Hz refresh rates and up to 120 FPS in most popular games.
With the Qualcomm® Hexagon™ NPU, the 10 Air is also 98% faster at AI processing and ensures a 40% improved performance-per-watt for sustained AI inferencing. The 10 Air’s chip includes an
The 4nm processor then puts in the work to maintain optimal efficiency throughout every processing task. LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 ensure faster multitasking and transfers while the Snapdragon X75 5G modem provides rapid 5G speeds. The 10 Air is also set up with a unique octa-core 1+5+2 CPU configuration and an Adreno 750 onboard GPU. The CPU consists of one prime Cortex-X4 core clocked at up to 3.3 GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores working at up to 3.2 GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores clocked at up to 2.3 GHz.
This architecture pushes the 3.3GHz Cortex-X4 prime core to maximize single-threaded performance and multi-core efficiency for more demanding tasks. So now that we know what this winning combination does in the 10 Air, let’s explore how the technology itself works.
At the heart of the 10 Air is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which we are already familiar with as it powers the processing in the REDMAGIC 9S Pro. Previously, Qualcomm had given us the privilege of being the first to utilize the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset outside of the Galaxy range in our REDMAGIC 8S Pro.
In the REDMAGIC 9S Pro, the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version chipset pushed CPU clock speeds to 3.4 GHz and seamlessly pushed the device to elevate gameplay, processing, and performance. These are just some of the reasons we chose the same world-class Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip to power the latest 10 Air as well.
Now, you might be wondering why the 10 Air doesn’t seem to sport the same latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip found in the REDMAGIC 10 Pro – and simply put, it creates a simpler and more affordable gaming smartphone without compromising on performance. Tech Spurt also addressed the switch to the previous chipset in his review of the 10 Air and assured his viewers that the phone still manages admirably with “anything you chuck at it.” He went on to prove this by playing some Wuthering Waves on the highest possible graphics settings without any problem.
On the other end of this combination, the 10 Air also features our unique and exclusive Red Core R3 custom gaming chip. This hardened technology was built specifically to address the unique demands of mobile gaming and ultimately provides unparalleled enhancements in areas like latency, audio, visuals, and haptic feedback.
In taking over gaming-specific tasks from the primary processor, the Red Core R3 not only boosts performance but also ensures consistent and efficient resource management. This improves battery life and keeps you winning for longer. The Red Core R3 also reduces input lag for fast-paced competitive games and complements the 10 Air’s Energy Cube Technology enhancement.
GSM Arena also commended the use of the two custom chips to help with performance. They noted that the Red Core R3 in the phone handles frame pacing and audio enhancement while interpolating to increase frame rates. The additional chip also reduces power draw in gaming-specific tasks and works with the ICE-X Cooling system to keep temperatures down.
In their review, they concluded that the benchmark results prove how the 10 Air performs on par with the REDMAGIC 9 Pro and 9S Pro and that there is “still plenty on the table for some high-end gaming.”
